Door jarenlange orkestervaring is het me duidelijk geworden dat het harpspel een nieuwe fase is ingegaan.Componisten en arrangeurs zijn andere dingen gaan verlangen van de harp dan decennia daarvoor. Dit betekent het ontwikkelen van nieuwe technieken.
In deze nieuwe technieken geef ik les, daarbij horen ook de timing en kennis van de jazzakkoorden en hoe ze te gebruiken (voor info: klik hier).
Ik verwacht nl dat de harp intensiever gebruikt gaat worden op de toekomstige jazzpodia. In het kader daarvan ben ik naast mijn privé-lessen thuis in Hilversum gestart met het geven van een cursus voor Jazz Pop en latin-harp samen met Park Stickney op het Rotterdams Conservatorium “Codarts” (een initiatief van Saskia Kingma). Daarvoor heb ik een eigen methode geschreven.

Jazz harp lessons
After many years experience, it became abundantly clear to me that harp playing was entering into a new dimension. Composers and arrangers grew to expect different sounds and effects from the harp than they did before. This means developing alternative techniques.These new techniques I will teach you.
It also means imparting knowledge of timing and chords, and how to employ them appropriately. I fully expect that composers and arrangers will use the harp more frequently in jazz and pop music in the future. That is why I am not only teaching privately – but also together with Park Stickney at the Rotterdam Conservatory‘Codards’(a Saskia Kingma initiative). I’ve devised a special method for Jazz-Latin and Pop harp.
